The Addison Town Historical Society, Inc. (ATHS) was established in 1988 and is recognized as a tax-exempt Vermont Corporation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The society is dedicated to the discovery, preservation, and exhibition of anything related to the history of the town of Addison, along with hosting related and appropriate functions. For instance, the society proudly erected the “Town of Addison established 1761” signs as a tribute to the longstanding member Marion Spencer.

The majority of the society’s collections are currently housed in a donated, temperature-controlled space. There is a hope for securing a permanent home to facilitate changing displays and research in the future.

Do you have artifacts connected to the history of Addison that you wish to preserve? The society gladly accepts donations; images and documents can be electronically scanned and returned if the donor prefers.

Meetings

Quarterly meetings take place in May (annual meeting), August, November, and February, usually at the Addison Volunteer Fire Department. These meetings feature a guest speaker or an active member presenting research about Addison. The August meeting is often transformed into a potluck picnic at Bodette’s Grove by Lake Champlain in West Addison.

Everyone is welcome at quarterly meetings! Look for meeting information on Front Porch Forum, the Addison Independent, or via email (for members only).
